🤔 How can young people in the informal sector and brands benefit from each other?
‍KikoRomeo, a Kenyan fashion brand, wanted to recruit young creatives and artisans to craft unique products for their sustainable collection, so they turned to us.
We partnered up with TRANSFORM (Unilever, FCDO & EY) to test a gig model that would provide KikoRomeo with access to gig workers, young female MESHERS, who would get to work on a cool project, receive training and make some extra cash đź’µ
💡Here's what we learned from a follow-up conversation with our own Njonjo Kiroga, Transform's Lisa Hawkes and KikoRomeo's Ann McCreath 👇👇
🛠️ We can find just about any skill or talent on MESH. With a clear and descriptive gig listing on our platform, no matter how niched out, we found and onboarded talented young female creatives and artisans to work with KikoRomeo.
🧠Mental health support is important in every sector. The KikoRomeo team introduced meditation sessions during in-person training, which improved openness, conversations, and overall productivity among the MESHERS.
🧶 There's always something new to learn. The MESHERS improved their creative skills, contributed to the circular economy by using upcycled fabrics and even developed new crocheting stitches, enhancing KikoRomeo's designs.
